About us

Composite Deck Shop is a network of five deck-specialty stores serving Eastern Canada. The company was originally founded in 2009 by Alexander Krupin under the name Decks Toronto, with its first location in North York.

In 2018, Decks Toronto relocated to Vaughan. In 2022, the business expanded across Ontario with new stores opening in Peterborough, Barrie, and London. As the company grew beyond a single location, the brand transitioned from Decks Toronto to Composite Deck Shop to better reflect its multi-location network. In 2025, we opened our first Quebec location in Montreal under the name Magasin de Patio.

Alexander Krupin began building decks in Toronto at the age of 16. While completing his Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Toronto, he launched his installation company. As that business grew, Alexander opened the first physical deck-specialty store in 2009 and later launched an online store in 2011.

In the early years, the store focused primarily on ipe decking and aluminum balusters, while also offering deck permit and design services and carrying a limited selection of composite and PVC decking.

In 2019, the company leased a larger property in Vaughan and began expanding into multiple leading product lines. Today, Composite Deck Shop operates one of the largest networks of deck-specialty stores in Canada. We supply decking, siding, fencing, railing, lighting, and accessories, serving customers with a growing selection of trusted outdoor building products.

Our mission is to provide fast, professional service at a competitive price. We value integrity and hard work, and we recognize that it is ultimately God’s blessing and guidance that allows our stores to grow and prosper. Our business expanded rapidly during the COVID pandemic and continues to grow despite challenging economic conditions.
