Maibec — Modern em+ Siding (1" x 6")
Modern em+ siding is made from kiln-dried SPF (spruce–fir) and factory-coated on all six sides in a controlled environment for consistent stain absorption and increased protection against sun and weather. For exterior use only.

Fastening System
Regular Installation System (Nails)
- Use Maibec hot-dipped zinc galvanized ring shank nails with a textured head, corrosion resistant and factory-stained to match. (Order nails with the siding.)
- A plastic hammer end cap is provided to protect the stain on nail heads.

Estimated quantities:
- Simple nailing: 15 lbs of nails per 1,000 sq. ft.
- Double nailing (6"): 30 lbs of nails per 1,000 sq. ft.
Coastal installations may require specific fastening details—refer to the Maibec installation guide for applicable regions.
Maibec em+® Installation System (Staples)
- Fasten using 2", 7/16" crown, 16 gauge, resin-coated stainless steel SUS 304 staples.
- Estimated quantities: 3,000 staples (1 box) per 750 sq. ft.
- Also order 1 lb of 2" nails per 1,000 sq. ft. to nail the starter course, tops of walls, and around openings.
- Recommended: Maibec em+® stapler guide (available through Maibec retailers).
- Compatible pneumatic staplers (with the em+® stapler guide): HITACHI™ (N5008 AC 1" and AC 2"), MAKITA™ (AT1150A), SENCO™ (SNS41) and certain discontinued models (SNS50XP/SNS45XP/SNS44XP).

Wall Preparation (Key Requirements)
- Install over a standard wall with studs up to 16" on-centre
- Sheathing: OSB or plywood
- Weather barrier: approved water-resistive barrier
- Install vertical furring strips into studs (per code and Maibec requirements) to create a continuous air gap, especially when used with ventilation and drainage accessories.

- Ventilation & drainage accessories: ventilated strips with a perforated 50% open pattern to support airflow/drainage and reduce pest entry.
